How it works

The Eastern Amazon Fund (EAF) is made up of funds from multiple sources, which can be either legal obligations or donations. Each donor signs a specific contract with the EAF Operational Manager, with the Project Operational Manual (POM) as an annex and an integral part of the contract. In this document, the objective, rules, and specific deadlines are established, in convergence with the components determined by the EAF’s Management Committee (CGFAO) or the strategic guidance of the Amazônia Agora State Plan (PEAA).

The Fund's Management Committee (CGFAO) approved the following three priority lines of action for 2021-2024: restoration of production in territories; promotion of bioeconomy; and land tenure, environmental, and sanitary planning for sustainable production.

Projects are supported through direct and indirect execution. In direct execution, procurement is carried out by FUNBIO to meet the demands of the beneficiaries of EAF projects. Requests are published on the FUNBIO website for comprehensive bidding.

In indirect execution, also called disbursement, FUNBIO transfers financial resources to non-profit organizations, selected through Calls for Proposals or spontaneous demand/induction. The organizations will be responsible for the execution and rendering of accounts, respecting the rules established by EAF and FUNBIO guidelines. The technical-financial reporting and monitoring of outcomes are supervised by FUNBIO. All selections are published on the FUNBIO website.
